...is a San Francisco-based trumpeter, composer, and educator. Versed in an array of styles, he currently leads his own groups and freelances in a number of ensembles throughout the Bay Area whose styles range from funk and soul to Afrobeat to free-form jazz. In addition to performing, he also maintains a private studio where he teaches jazz theory, trumpet technique, and general musicianship, and also coaches student ensembles in school bands. Brendan has studied jazz improvisation and composition with pianist and Guggenheim-fellow Myra Melford, and with trumpeters Darren Johnston, and John Worley. He has performed and recorded with internationally-known artists/bands such as Michael Rose (Black Uhuru), Groundation, and Earl Zero.
