BIO

"It was somewhat mind-boggling; a band that so expertly leads the crowd in a call-and-response straight out of a Zora Neale Hurston novel should not be able to pull off a cover of Bjork’s 'Joga' with confidence and competence, but Mad Noise did just that." The Bay Bridged

Fans have described MAD NOISE's sound as everything from "Acoustic Neo-Soul Street-Funk" to "Punk-Blues," crediting their diversity and DIY aesthetic. While deeply rooted in the blues, what makes MAD NOISE inimitable is their ability to draw from styles around the world, from folk and jazz to punk and pop. Their live performances are characterized by their raw energy, intricate vocal harmonies, collective improvisation, and ability to connect with their audiences. MAD NOISE began as a busking band in 2010, entertaining the streets of San Francisco. In only five years, this eclectic ensemble received numerous awards from SF Bay Area press (SF Weekly's and The Daily Californian's "Best of" 2011, and named "Best Band" by SF Bay Guardian 2011, 2012, and 2013). They’ve performed at venues and festivals along the West Coast, Colorado, and throughout West Africa as part of the US Department of State-sponsored program American Music Abroad in 2015.

"Their first number — a biting piece of social commentary with Motown keys, funk horns, lyrics from the voices of the oppressed, and a bassline right out of CBGB." The Bay Bridged
